Irish Drama "Timpiste Bhothair"

Here's an Irish drama we did today in school.

The Happiness Challenge

This week we've been following BBC Breakfast's "Happiness Challenge". The task is to follow 3 simple steps and see what happens:
1. Write a letter of gratitude to someone each day.
2. Do at least one random act of kindness each day.
3. Meditate for a few minutes each day.
Personally, I've really enjoyed the challenge and have come to realise how happy I was all along! I'd love to hear some of your own comments.

Debate!

There was a lively debate in the classroom today. The motion being debated was:
"People should eat meat"
Half the class were for the motion and the other half against.
Everyone got a chance to make a point and then the debate was opened to the floor for arguments over and back.
In the end the team For the Motion narrowly defeated the team Against.
Well done to Thomas and Carla who were the "Debaters of the Day". They both made their arguments passionately and convincingly.

Tangy Treats

We did some baking today in class. We followed the recipes in our Reading Zone book as closely as we could and produced Lemon Bars and Lemon Cheese Cake. Yum!

Book Wars

After 6 weeks of furious reading, Book Wars is now over and the winners are:
                                                  THE HIBBIDIE JIBBIDIES
Well done to the group who beat off stiff competition to take the top prize. They won €100 each of classroom money.
Top scorers of BookWars were Ciara, Meabh and Ronan.
The award for most enthusiastic reader went to Brian.
Well done to all!

Star pupils

Well done to Meabh who has qualified for the Scor na nOg Ulster finals. Meabh is a talented musician who plays several instruments. Next Saturday in Silverbridge Co Armagh, she will play the mandolin in a traditional group made up of herself, her brother, her sister and two others. The best of luck Meabh!

Well done also to Lauren who recently starred in The Academy of the Performing Arts' production of Grease the Musical in the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan. Lauren has been with the theatre group for years and has previously starred in Annie the Musical and other shows.
