Visit to the Army Barracks
This Friday, after swimming 6th class (lucky them) had the opportunity to stop off at the Army Barracks to view the GAA National Trophies.
Visit to the Anglo-Celt
Last Friday, after swimming, we stopped off at the Anglo-Celt offices to view where the old Cavan Railway Station was. We met Anselm's Grandad there (he used to work for the Celt). He gave us a very comprehensive and interesting tour of the building and we learned a lot. Here are some questions to see if you were on your toes when you were there!1. What is Anselm's Grandad's name?
2. How many platforms were in the old Railway station?
3. Where did the trains go to/ come from?
4. What were the names of the two Railway Lines that came into Cavan?
5. For roughly how many years did the train come to Cavan?
6. When did the Railway station finally close down?

The Mountain
Two of our students: Meabh and Ciara participated in RTE 2's The Mountain, which was shown on Friday afternoon. The girls did incredibly well and can be very proud of their performance. Book Launch
We had a book launch on World Book Day. The winners were announced and we had a "juice and cheese" reception to celebrate. Well done to everyone in the class- the books were great. Read the post "Book Launch" on Project of the Month to see more about the books.
Pledging Mass
The Confirmation Pledging Mass is on in the Cathedral this Saturday evening, 5th March, at 7.30pm. Bring along your Pledging Card, as you will have to stand up during mass along with all the other Confirmation candidates and read it out. Then after mass you have to place your card in the box at the altar for the priest to sign. You can sit anywhere in the church that you like, but do try to be at least 5 minutes early.
